Just an update on the many things happening at Black Bayou.
 
1st Saturday Program for Kids is September 2: 10AM for 3-5 year olds, 11AM 6-12 Year olds

FWS is starting a new Refuge Krewe!
Next month we will be starting a new volunteer training program, recruiting people for the Refuge Krewe! If you want to learn more and help protect refuge and enjoy talking with people, we can use your help. Training will start either Sept 26th or Sept 28th. Details below and you can email Nova_Clarke@fws.gov if you have questions or want to sign up.

Monthly Friends Meeting – Sponsored by Ouachita Valley ACS September 18th at 6:30pm
This month’s Friends of Black Bayou meeting at the Visitor's Center will be sponsored by the Ouachita Valley of American Chemical Society. Kristopher Kelley will present on nutrient flow in the water shed in addition to all the other neat updates on the happens at Black Bayou. Come visit with new Friends and find out more!

America the Beautiful Senior Passes

The Friends of Black Bayou Nature Store has sold out of Senior Passes at this time. But there is still time to get your pass!

The rates are scheduled are scheduled to change on August 28th so do not delay in placing your order if you are over 62 years old!

Currently the passes are available locally at the US Corps of Engineers office on South Grand Street. Call: 318-322-6391 for more information.

You may also purchase them online at the USGS.gov store with an additional processing fee of $10 Note:
  • Until the current backlog of Senior Pass orders are shipped, your order confirmation will be honored for use at agency sites.
  • If you need your pass in less than three months, consider purchasing your pass at the first site you visit. Please click here for a list of sites that issue passes. Please Note that USGS field offices DO NOT issue passes.
  • Online and Mail in Senior pass applications are currently being processed within twelve weeks
All eligible Senior pass orders postmarked before August 28 will be processed at the $10 price.  Lifetime Senior pass orders postmarked after August 28 will be processed at the $80 price. Additional processing fees of $10 applies for USGS Store orders.
