Friends of Black Bayou Nature Store

NOTICE:  Due to the pandemic, the Visitor Center and gift shop are temporarily CLOSED...

Located inside the Visitor Center, the Friends of Black Bayou Nature Store is just the right mix of educational items and fun items, for kids and grownups. Shop Directors Leslie Calhoun and Gloria Dedmon stock the store with items that bring the goals and conservation of wildlife to the forefront of visitors' minds, with such items as educational books, walking sticks, T-shirts, postcards, and wildlife toys. The items available change through time, so visit the gift shop again and again, even if you've been in before, for lots of new gift ideas and education.

Among the educational displays, the visitor can meander through the dioramas, watch videos, explore the migrations of birds, and even step inside a hollow tree (be sure to look up when you are inside for the wildlife display there, too!).
You can pick up a free map of the trails and roads at Black Bayou Lake National Wildlife Refuge, and visit with the knowledgeable volunteers and staff while you're in there.

Next time you need a birthday gift for a kid
or anyone else, come see us!

FoBB volunteers have a little gift shop inside the Visitor Center, with wildlife, outdoor gifts, gear, and apparel for sale. All proceeds go toward wildlife and the refuge projects.
